I heard the voice of Jesus say...

Okay so that was almost a week without blogging! I'm going away tomorrow and have got a few posts scheduled to come out while I'm gone. Lets get the ball rolling...

At the end of the second day's walk, on the third night of the Ely to Walsingham pilgrimage we stayed in a village hall opposite the Rose and Crown pub in Harpley. There we had a bit of food, a few drinks, song and good cheer. Here's the first of the songs I recorded. It is a beautiful Irish song. Watch out for the funny Irish lady and what she does at the end!

The person singing is called Ronan. He is three years younger than me, but is a personal hero of mine. I had him in the sidebar before under a pseudonym. I've added him again. In due course I will be doing a separate post about Ronan.

Loads of people are blogging about the pilgrimage:

Dr Joseph Shaw (King of the Latin Mass Society)

Seán Wright of Juventutem London

The Catholic Youth

Laurence England

Fr Bede Rowe, our chaplain for the pilgrimage

More will be added as Seán reminds me who they are.

Sign up for next year's pilgrimage today and get the special earlybird price. See you in Ely!

If you can't wait until then there is a Juventutem retreat next weekend in Reading. There are a couple of places left, but not many. If you're happy to camp (like I will be) then there are a number of places still left.

UPDATE: I've since uploaded another version of this song and written the lyrics in full beneath. The other video has better sound quality and a bodhran.

  1. Hey Paul, can you rerecord the Ronan singing thing without the background noise. It is so good!

  2. I have another version which sounds even better, but I need to work out how to rotate it before I upload it
